Community Manager - Engagement Systems

Greenpeace International is seeking a hardworking Community Manager to join our diverse international team, focused on helping develop supporter engagement by improving the organisation’s use of engagement systems, including our flagship global CRM system, “Universe”, built on Salesforce, and our digital marketing platform. You will help us to ensure that Greenpeace uses these technology systems to deliver our engagement strategy and help build people-powered campaigns to:

  • Inspire, mobilise and engage millions of people to campaign alongside of us
  • Reach and empower more of society to be directly involved in our work
  • Deepen supporters’ engagement and contributions to our campaigns

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience of developing and facilitating dynamic communities, both online and in-person, with a background as a skilled user of CRM or digital campaigning platforms and a genuine passion for data. It’s a fast paced role that requires skill, enthusiasm, curiosity and initiative. You will possess strong conceptual and problem-solving abilities and be energised by empowering people to achieve their full potential. We are ideally looking for a superb communicator, able to flourish in a culturally diverse environment, who enjoys working collaboratively to achieve common goals. You should also have experience generating compelling content, ideally in a similar role. This is a full time permanent position, working closely with our global team who are dispersed across all timezones. We can be flexible on location at one of the independent Greenpeace Organisations (subject to agreement). Because remuneration is dependent on location, this can be discussed during the application process. ​​​​​​As our Community Manager you will:

  • Organise and facilitate a regular programme of community communications, including online community calls, regular “news” bulletins and face to face meetings and events
  • Act as an approachable knowledge base, demonstrating product understanding (which will be developed on the job) and experience to help the user community
  • Build strong relationships with (and between) practitioners, local and global product owners, and product support teams
  • Validate bug reports and evaluate feature requests raised by the community. Relay key information to vendors and work with practitioners to find solutions
  • Work closely with the Campaigns and Engagement teams to translate strategic thinking into practical capacity building for practitioners, through technical and tactical trainings and workshops
  • Assist in the negotiation and ongoing maintenance of new and renewed global systems contracts with external vendors, and work with local offices to arrive at equitable cost sharing agreements for product costs
  • Ensure that up to date documentation covering the full range of product functionality, technical architecture, and process management is available and maintained

Requirements What we are looking for:

  • Minimum 5 years experience working with engagement technology (e.g. CRM systems, digital marketing platforms, online campaigning, etc.)
  • Experience with Salesforce - ADM 201 certification being desirable
  • Technical and conceptual understanding of fundraising/CRM databases (must), and preferably also Marketing Automation and Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse technology
  • Strong history of content creation including product documentation, detailed product collateral, architecture diagrams, and more
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
  • Superb writing, communication and public speaking skills
  • High energy, charismatic, innovative, creative
  • A passion for taking the complex and making it simple, and for communicating through compelling stories
  • Experience with working in an international and culturally diverse environment
  • Proficient in English, both verbal and written, and preferably one other foreign language.
  • Ability and willingness to accommodate up to 25% travel
