 An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team as an advocacy campaigns officer.We’re looking for someone with a passion for campaigning to join us for an initial 12 month fixed-term contract to take our advocacy work to the next level. The role can be based in London, Glasgow or Cardiff. As the only UK charity for people affected by all lung and respiratory disease – from mild asthma through to lung cancer – the British Lung Foundation (BLF) is here for every one of them. We are leading the fight against lung disease by providing support, funding vital research, and campaigning for better prevention, treatment and care. We provide hope, help and a voice for every one of them. 1 in 5 of us have been diagnosed with a lung condition. Our country’s polluted air makes life harder for them and puts our health at risk.You’ll be working across the digital and policy and public affairs teams to deliver digital advocacy campaign strategies aimed at influencing politicians to clean up our air and improve services for people living with a lung condition. Most importantly, you’ll work directly with our grassroots campaigners and patients to give them the tools they need to campaign for change in their local areas. The role supports campaigners across the UK so the role can be based at our London, Glasgow or Cardiff Office. You’ll need experience of working with advocacy software, campaigning tools and social media and email campaigning. That could be from another charity, an agency, or somewhere else entirely! You’ll have excellent writing and editing kills, and you’ll know how to craft a campaign message to get people engaged. You’ll have a good idea of how to influence decision makers, from city leaders up to government ministers. This is an exciting new role in the digital and marketing team.  You’ll need experience of mobilising, organising and delivering advocacy results. The day-to-day skills you’ll need include working with grassroots mobilisation campaigns software (Engaging Networks), social media, email marketing and the rest. If you get the job, you'll be leading on digital campaigning for our Clean Air Parents Network and our wider air pollution work. This is going to be an exciting year: with air pollution legislation coming before parliament, and the international climate change conference COP26 taking place in the UK, we have big plans. You'll need to enjoy working collaboratively: this is a must! You’ll be working closely with our policy team, our press team and our teams in Scotland and Wales. Most of all you’ll be working with grassroots campaigners in the network. The role supports campaigners across the UK so the role can be based at our London, Glasgow or Cardiff Office. As well as your great digital skills, you'll also be writing and editing copy, so excellent written English is a must. Above all, you'll need a can-do, positive attitude. This is a new role working on advocacy campaigning for the Air Pollution Campaign. Through a network of parent campaigners based in Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, and soon in Aberdeen, Dundee and Cardiff. Overall objectives The purpose of this role is to deliver the objectives of the Clean Air Parents Network through campaigning and mobilisation and to advise and lead on strategies for grassroots campaigningin the wider organisation. The post holder will:• Develop and implement advocacy campaigns and activities to deliver the goals of the Clean Air Parents Network and the BLF’s air pollution campaigns• Use digital tools to recruit, engage and organise new campaigners and members of the network• Work closely with our policy, digital and nations teams to expand the network• Support and inspire grassroots campaigners in the network to use digital effectively• Provide campaigning support to the policy teams in London, Glasgow and Cardiff on other priority areas, including improved services for people with lung disease and support to stop smoking• Report, measure and evaluate on campaigning activity Key responsibilities• Work collaboratively with colleagues and members of the network to develop and implement advocacy plans• Exploring and testing innovative ways to campaign and mobilise• Develop assets, tools and campaign actions to mobilise the network, and the BLF’s wider group of campaigners and supporters• Work closely with the policy team to identify, advise on and put into place campaigning plans• Run campaigning workshops for members of the network• Integrate and collaborate with colleagues working in other areas, for example press and media, marketing and face-to-face.• Write, produce and edit content for blogs, social media, email marketing and digital advertising to support the campaign Education and trainingEducated to degree level or equivalent professional experienceDemonstrable evidence of continued professional developmentSkills and experienceEssential• Experience of setting up and running advocacy or mobilisation campaigns• In-depth knowledge of advocacy campaigning and organising (this could be from agencyside, a campaigning charity or a political party or movement)• Knowledge of evolving and innovative approaches to campaign strategy• Experience in developing campaigning materials• Experience of analytics tools• Excellent online skills including campaign action software• Previous experience of managing content on a website• Understanding and experience of working with social media and email marketingDesirable• Experience of HTML and Javascript• Hands on experience of working with Engaging Networks or a similar tool• Experience of working with customer relationship management (CRM) software, specificallyCARE• Understanding of air pollution and/or respiratory health How to apply To apply for this roles:
