Main Responsibilities • To be the first port of call for local Age UK charities and their campaigning needs – whether that’s supporting them to effectively implement our national campaigns locally or run their own local campaigns. This may involve developing activities and materials to effectively deliver this. • Devise and implement events which support local Age UK charities to develop their influencing and campaigning skills, particularly the annual Influencing Conference and local summits. • Support the development and implementation of Age UK’s strategy for local influencing by working collaboratively across the Charity, the Influencing Committee and with members of Age UK’s federated network of local charities. • To gather information from local Age UK charities and older people directly on issues they are facing in order to influence our campaigning priorities. • To ensure local Age UK charities understand how the External Affairs team and this role can support them to influence local and national decision-making. • Support the overall work programme of the External Affairs Team, particularly but not exclusively as regards local influencing Experience • Experience of managing and building strong relationships with different stakeholder groups • Experience of managing projects from initial idea through to completion • Experience of developing and executing events to achieve specific goals Skills & Knowledge • Knowledge of how to influence national and local government • Ability to engage well with a wide range of organisations and groups, including older people, CEOs of charities and senior local/national government representatives • Ability to assimilate new policy issues quickly and communicate them simply • Ability to support and challenge colleagues with self-confidence and a commitment to helping others meet shared goals • Desirable: Knowledge of issues of importance to older people If you have any questions regarding this role please contact Rosie.Mckearney@ageuk.org.uk.
