Director of Campaigns
About the position The Director of Campaigns defines and delivers campaign strategies for GCCM at a global level, and at regional and national levels as appropriate. Collaborating with and supporting others around the world, the incumbent will provide vision and outstanding project management to strengthen and expand GCCM’s highly successful campaigns. Working within a matrix management framework, the staff member will coordinate work from the departments of network engagement and communications and will liaise with other teams as needed. Being a new position at GCCM, the staff member will play an active role in the strategic direction of the organization as a member of our program leadership team. Location Anywhere. Location is flexible based on the right candidate. Type Full-time position. Essential duties and responsibilities Strategy
- Define and oversee campaign strategies to achieve progress in our strategic goals of ecological conversion, sustainability, and advocacy. Strategies will be delivered for GCCM’s key global initiatives, including Climate Strikes, Earth Day, the Season of Creation, interventions in large events as World Meeting of Families and World Youth Day, and other opportunities as they arise.
- Deliver high-level project management for GCCM campaigns in collaboration with senior leaders of Communications and Organizing teams, while instituting ongoing campaign goal-setting, tracking, and evaluation systems to continually measure and improve our organizational impact.
- Provide additional strategic input and support, to departmental directors as needed.
- Ensure regional campaigns and international campaigns are well integrated, accounting for the unique goals and contexts of each, to achieve maximum organizational impact.
Advocacy program management
- Develop and implement strategy to maximize the impact of GCCM’s international advocacy efforts, such as the highly successful fossil fuel divestment campaign and efforts in the UNFCCC realm.
- Co-lead relevant Advocacy Working Groups of GCCM, to support our membership to work towards our advocacy priorities related to the fossil fuel industry, the transition to 100% renewable energy, and the protection of forests and land.
- Collaborate with other climate and faith organizations as needed. Ensure that GCCM’s goals and strategy align with best practices and current thinking and that GCCM is well represented in global conversations and major mobilizations.
- Provide support and line management to team members. Ensure that goals are clear and hold regular check-ins to provide ideas, resolve concerns, and hold team members accountable.
- Working within a matrix management framework, collaborate with departmental directors to define the plans and deadlines needed to implement strategy. Provide high-level project management. Ensure goals are clear, resolve concerns, and hold leaders accountable as appropriate.
- Contribute to organizational discussions about how to recruit, retain, support and nurture the talent of key staff.
- Understand GCCM’s history, campaigns, and theory of change, and keep current with basic climate science and policy. From time to time, use this knowledge to represent GCCM’s perspective in public venues.
- From time to time, contribute work towards GCCM’s overall mission that is outside standard responsibilities and instead relies solely on geographic location or work capacity.
- Support GCCM major initiatives such as the Laudato Si’ Film, Sustainability Initiative and other projects that might arise on a case-by-case basis.

Requirements Candidates should also:
- demonstrate 5 to 7 years’ experience in the areas of responsibility
- demonstrate familiarity with ecological issues at both the level of impact and the level of policy
- demonstrate a sustained history of working on advocacy campaigns
- be comfortable working in a faith-based environment
