Summary Forward Action is looking for a Head of Client Services to join our innovative and fast-moving team. You will play a central role in our organisation’s growth, nurturing relationships with existing partners and developing new ones with prospective clients, finding ways to share Forward Action’s knowledge and expertise with the sector through events and online content, and raising awareness of our work and its impact. Your role will also keep you closely in touch with the cutting-edge of digital campaigns strategy as you devise proposals to help clients hit their strategic goals. This is a permanent role, with the freedom to work both in our London office and remotely from home within the London area. This role will be four days a week, although we’d be happy to discuss the option of three days per week with the right candidate. Who we are Forward Action is a full service digital agency for progressive causes. We come up with ideas for campaigns that get results, then do the work to create them. We have been in the engine room of some of the most successful election and charity digital campaigns of the last few years, helping our clients add millions of new supporters to their email lists, raise more money online (from more donors) and create campaigns that have led to real-world change. Our clients are some of the most exciting and impactful organisations in campaigning, including Greenpeace, The ONE Campaign, Amnesty International, WaterAid, The Labour Party and SumOfUs. What you’ll do as part of our team

  • Drive new business at Forward Action, helping set and then delivering our business development strategy
  • Meet with prospective clients to discuss their strategic needs and explore how Forward Action can help hit their goals - for example, mobilising supporters to join an email list, give a donation, or put pressure on a campaign target
  • Based on these conversations and briefs we receive, work with the directors to devise strategic approaches for proposals
  • Draft pitches and proposals for prospective clients (and help deliver in-person pitches)
  • Meet with current clients to explore opportunities for where we can be doing more to advance their digital programmes
  • Write up case studies for the Forward Action website
  • Proactively find opportunities for Forward Action to speak at conferences and events, help put together and deliver presentations, and build relationships with relevant bodies within the sector
  • Organise and attend evening drinks and other social events with current clients
  • Gather feedback from clients on their experience working with us to help ensure we continue to deliver only outstanding work
  • Plan a content calendar for our blogs and social media channels, commission other team members to write content, and draft content yourself
  • Attend concept generation meetings for the digital engagement tools Forward Action is well known for (example here)
  • Help foster a productive, kind and empowering working environment as part of Forward Action’s leadership team

Benefits and location Pro Rata Salary: £44,352 if you live inside London, £39,600 (plus £3,000 expense allowance for travel into/accommodation in London) if you live outside. Every year you work with us, your salary will increase by inflation plus £1,584 in London/£1,414 outside London. Contract Term: This is a permanent contract. This role will be four days a week, although we’d be happy to discuss the option of three days per week with the right candidate. Location: In our Hoxton office, with the option to work remotely. Ensuring our team is open to people who live outside London and enabling staff to work flexibly are important values to us, so you’ll have the freedom to work from home regularly. Many of our meetings are held via video conferencing, but you will often need to attend meetings with clients in London - on one or two days every week on average. Holiday: 25 days/year (pro rata) plus a week off between Christmas and New Year. Why work at Forward Action? Abilities and experience you’ll need to have

  • At least 2 years’ experience working EITHER in business development and relationship building OR in digital campaigning/digital fundraising
  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organisation and attention-to-detail
  • Confident and outgoing
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - this role needs someone who enjoys meeting new people and is comfortable initiating conversations at conferences and events
  • Enthusiasm for working in partnership with others - both internally and externally
  • Being comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Dedication to helping build a fairer, more progressive society
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • A self-starter who is comfortable taking the initiative in your work

We also love a quick learner. We don’t expect you to know or have done everything when you start - we’ll be looking for you to pick up new skills and knowledge quickly, then run with them. Abilities and experience that are nice to have We know it’s not possible for any applicants to have all these skills - it’s likely you’ll be able to bring 3 - 4 of the following to our team: A working knowledge of digital campaigns and fundraising strategy

  • Experience working in the charity sector
  • Experience working at a fast-paced agency
  • Experience with account management
  • Experience in managing budgets
  • Experience of public speaking (e.g at conferences)
  • Experience of proposal writing
  • Experience of presenting at pitches or internal meetings
  • Enthusiasm for thinking creatively and coming up with new ideas
  • Established relationships within the third sector
