As the voice of the UK’s co-operative movement, we empower and support co-operative enterprise with specialised knowledge and expertise, to grow the co-operative economy and create a fairer society. From football clubs and farms, to convenience stores and pubs, there are more than 7,000 co-operatives in the UK, each owned and controlled by their members and based on a set of shared principles and values. By promoting shared wealth through member ownership, we are committed to enable anyone in the UK to form, or join, thriving and sustainable co-ops. Within this innovative and engaging position, you will play a vital role in representing the Ownership Hub – a programme partnership between Co-operatives UK and the Employee Ownership Association. The Ownership Hub supports businesses, professional advisers and regions to raise awareness, knowledge and capacity to grow employee and worker ownership. This role is certainly catered to a confident and resourceful communicator who has strong project and event management skill. You will be confident at being at the centre of our efforts in driving forward the activities and agenda of employee and worker ownership in the defined boroughs of GLA. Through running events, coordinating the establishment of an Ownership Hub locally, and supporting the national programme, you will work with all areas of the local policy team, the business support environment as well business owners and workers to create an understanding and interest of employee and worker ownership across the region. You will have experience of building strong working relationships with stakeholders and external suppliers to facilitate the effective management of the project, keeping all interested parties up to date in the delivery and progress. Project Management

  • Scoping and delivering a realistic project delivery plan for the programme activities as identified by Co-operatives UK and the Employee Ownership Association
  • Defining resource requirements to ensure projects are delivered on time, in budget and to specification, with the aim of establishing a London Ownership Hub, in partnership with the GLA
  • Ensuring all project activity and documentation adheres to policies and procedures, including that all project control activities are carried out and delivered to minimise risk
  • Co-ordinating and managing activities on projects to ensure delivery to plan, monitor performance against plan, track benefits and take action to ensure issues and problems are resolved in a timely and effective manner
  • Design and delivery of technical support associated with project activities – provision and tailoring of advice and guidance to support the development of related markets/sectors

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Production of a range of data and documents to ensure that projects are fully monitored, high quality reports are produced on project progress and spend, and that information is clearly interpreted and communicated to relevant individuals/stakeholders
  • Tracking project benefits and using information generated to evaluate and communicate project progress, intervening to resolve issues as necessary

Relationship Management

  • Building working relationships with project sponsors, stakeholders and external suppliers to facilitate the effective management of the project, keeping all interested parties up to date with resolution of issues and feedback if the order of priorities needs to be adapted
  • Co-ordinating project activity with other related projects or work activities so delays arising from interdependent activities are minimised
  • Liaising and mobilising stakeholders with a responsibility to identify people and places to join the programme and build a network of activities
  • Realise the benefits of collaborative working with other business/externally- facing teams at the Greater London Authority where appropriate to the delivery of the project
  • Building productive relationships, partnerships and networks with stakeholders, including senior leaders in the tech, social investment and co-operative sectors, to facilitate the development of support activities in a collaborative way

Other

  • Maintaining knowledge of regulatory and legal requirements relevant to the role – support and promote compliance with those requirements within the role, the business and emerging co-operatives under related workstreams
  • Identifying Funding for expansion of the project, including funding for a support programme for organisations interested in employee and worker ownership
  • Realise the benefits of collaborative working with other business/externally- facing teams at the Greater London Authority where appropriate to the delivery of the project

Essential Knowledge

  • Experience of working in or advising for-profit business environments, social business and/or start-ups
  • Experience of planning and delivering events/engagement activity with groups
  • Experience of presenting and speaking in public to a range of audiences
  • Experience of B2B client/customer facing environments
  • Knowledge of different business structures e.g. Ltd, charities, PLCs, Trusts
  • Experience of marketing and campaigning
  • Knowledge and links with the Greater London region and its communities, within commuting distance
  • Experience of working with multi-stakeholder groups, ideally coordinating multi-partnership groups

Essential Skills

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal to a wide range of audiences
  • Strong relationship and client management skills, able to adapt style to influence across a range of audiences and situations
  • Ability to manage your own workload and work independent of close management
  • Project management skills and/ or experience of large-scale projects including report writing and budget management
  • Experience of working across professional business support environments
